Meet The Team
Richard S. Singleton
Principal
Rick is the founding principal of Scenic Capital. He directs the firm’s overall investment strategy and leverages his relationships, both institutional and personal, to source investment opportunities. His primary responsibilities include acquisitions, dispositions, contract negotiations, deal structuring, and asset management.
In his 20+ year real estate career, Rick has participated in over $1 billion of commercial real estate transactions. He holds a MBA from the University of Texas with concentrations in corporate and private equity finance.
Thomas is part owner of Scenic Capital. He is involved in all areas of the firm’s business from underwriting to asset management. His primary responsibilities include acquisitions, dispositions, and business development.
Thomas’ background includes leading acquisition efforts for a Houston family office, working in corporate finance for a publicly traded company in South East Asia, and managing his family’s real estate businesses. He is a CPA and has a MBA from Rice University.
Joel helped start Scenic Capital and is involved in all areas of the firm’s business from analytics to raising capital. His primary responsibilities include investor relations, asset management, transactional oversight, and business development.
Joel has spent the past ten years in private equity. Previously, he spent eight years in the financial services industry in Australia where he negotiated and managed relationships with many of Australia’s largest banks and lending institutions.
Jennifer oversees all accounting and financial reporting of portfolio assets. She works directly in property accounting and monitors financial performance of portfolio investments. She also manages all 3rd party tax consultants.
Jennifer’s work experience includes 20+ years of accounting and management experience. Jennifer received a MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University.
Tanner is involved in the analysis of new investment opportunities. His primary responsibilities include sourcing and underwriting commercial assets as well as land sites with development potential.
Tanner has spent four years in self-storage brokerage and private equity operations. Previously, he spent twelve years in overseas Department of Defense security consulting and also served four years in the U.S. Military. Tanner is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Texas.
Michael serves as Senior Asset Manager of Scenic’s hospitality portfolio, which includes its hotel and bar holdings. His primary responsibility is to maximize investment value by implementing strategy and driving operating performance while monitoring market conditions.
Michael’s strong knowledge of hotel operations developed after attending an intense two-year multi-department training program at one of Taiwan’s largest private hotel chains. He has seasoned that experience managing his family’s hotel assets. Previously he worked in finance at a Fortune 500 company. Michael holds a MBA from The University of San Francisco.
Scenic Capital Advisors raises equity and invests in commercial real estate through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Scenic Property Group. SPG is a fully integrated, real estate investment firm that buys, builds and manages investment real estate for its own account.

Scenic assembled multiple parcels and developed this 3-story institutional quality storage facility on Stewart Rd, the high traffic east-west thoroughfare on the island. Extensive site work was completed to raise the finished floor elevation above the 100 year flood zone. The property opened its doors for business in August 2021 and is currently in lease-up.
Scenic was the major investor in establishing Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Icehouse in Austin's famous West 6th Street District. Scenic sold its position in March, 2020.
SCA made an equity investment in the iconic Horseshoe Lounge to provide the capital necessary to relocate the venue after the lease expired where it had operated for 50 years. LONG LIVE THE SHOE!
Scenic Capital backed Executive Chef Callie Speer to bring her all day brunch restaurant concept to life in downtown Austin. Scenic took a lead role in structuring the deal, providing the capital, and providing construction oversight. Rick Singleton serves as managing partner along with Callie Speer and Scenic continues to provide accounting, financial, and strategic planning oversight.
